After debuting first look photos of the Potter, Granger-Weasley, and Malfoy families last week, the first preview shows for J.K. Rowling’s play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child have begun at London’s Palace Theatre. With the first public preview happening, the official Twitter account for the play has shared a new photo.
The image shows the cast on stage on the set of Hogwarts, where the children of Harry Potter and his friends are now students just like their parents. While it is known that the play continues the story from the books, nineteen years later like the epilogue from book seven, there isn’t a lot of other plot details out there about the two-part story.
What is known is that the play is a story from Rowling that was developed with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany and finds Harry Potter now an overworked employee for the Ministry of Magic with three kids while dealing with a past that won’t stay as the past. All set against his son Albus Severus Potter having to deal with shouldering the family legacy.
Wanting to keep more details secret, and with the public now getting to see the play, Rowling even put out a video asking for fans to keep details quiet until the show fully debuts on July 30.
While the show will be in London, meaning most fans won’t get to see it, a book version of the script will be released on July 31, which as fans of course know is Harry Potter’s birthday.
