“DC’s Legends of Tomororw” adds a version of Vixen to season two

Arrow Vixen

With some empty seats on the Waverider going into season two, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be looking to fill those seats with some new characters, and one of those characters looks to be very familiar. That’s because the character of Vixen will be joining the team on their new adventure, just not the Vixen you were probably expecting.

While Megalyn Echikunwoke has brought the Mari McCabe version of Vixen, from the comics, to life both in the animated series Vixen, which is part of the Arrowverse continuity, and in a guest appearance on Arrow last season, the actress won’t be reprising the role for the series, according to TV Insider. The reason is that the actress is currently highly in demand, including other TV projects and films, and can’t fit it into her schedule.

So while she’ll continue to voice Mari in the animated series upcoming second season, the producers at Legends of Tomorrow have decided to bring in a new Vixen since their show has the power to jump around and recruit characters from anywhere in time and the token that Vixen uses to gain animalistic powers has been in other hands previously within the universe continuity.

Since Mari is still appearing in the animated series, it was said that the door is still always open to Echikunwoke to reprise the character in live-action once her schedule opens up.

There is no current word on if the character will have a connection to Mari or not, and casting is currently underway for when Legends of Tomorrow returns for it’s second season this fall.
