Following the reveal of the Potter and the Granger-Weasley families, Potterworld has shared the first look at Draco Malfoy and his son Scorpius Malfoy from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two .
Alex Price, who has worked on Doctor Who and Penny Dreadful, will bring the older version of Harry Potter’s nemesis Draco to life for the London play. Looking very similar to the man who will play his father on stage, Anthony Boyle will play the part of Scorpius Malfoy.
The similarity between the two was something Rowling liked.
“I love Draco and Scorpius,” Rowling said in the release. “They actually look related!”
Scorpius will be wearing the standard Hogwarts uniform during the play, just like Albus Severus Potter and Rose Granger-Weasly, but it will have a twist since he’s a Malfoy.
“He’s wearing the official Hogwarts uniform before you go and get sorted into your house,” Rowling said. “He’s a Malfoy so his clothes should be really expensive but quite constraining to make him feel a bit awkward.”
Price said that working to get himself into character as Draco was easy, thanks to the script.
“Jack Thorne’s script. Start right there,” Price said. “And there’s obviously a massive history of books to draw on. You could tie yourself in knots worrying about it. But our first job is to serve this play and J.K. Rowling’s characters as best we can.”
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens at the Palace Theatre in London on July 30.
