Following a first-look at Harry Potter and his family in costume for the new play that continues the character’s story, Pottermore has shared more photos this time focused on the Granger-Weasley family for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part One and Two.
Harry’s two best friends Hermione and Ron are all grown up, married with a hyphenated name and a young daughter named Rose. The photos show Ron (Paul Thornley), Hermione (Noma Dumezweni) and Rose (Cherrelle Skeete) in full costume both together and solo.
While fans know everything about Ron, Ginny, Ron and Hermione and saw at least a bit with Harry and Ginny’s son Albus in the book’s epilogue, Rose Granger-Weasley is a character they probably don’t know much about.
According to Skeete, Rose is very much like her mother.
“Rose is ambitious, obviously her mum is Hermione so she’s got a lot to live up to,” Skeete said. “I think they’re quite similar in the fact they put a lot of pressure on themselves. And she just wants to do the right thing.”
The sentiment was one that J.K. Rowling agreed with.
“Rose is like her mother, but more secure, more grounded,” Rowling said in the news release. “She was born to wizards and knows her place in the world. Cherrelle plays her perfectly: bossy but deeply loveable.”
About the elder Granger-Weasleys, Rowling said that she was “overjoyed” about Dumezweni’s casting as Hermione because the actress “gets Hermione inside out.” She also mentioned in the release that Ron in his forties isn’t that different from teenage Ron, “except that his feet hurt a bit more.” Thornley was described as “funny and brilliant in the role” by Rowling.
