Marvel teases two mystery ‘Civil War II’ one-shots

When there is war, there are casualties. This summer’s Marvel Comics event Civil War II won’t be any different.

Marvel sent out solicitations for two Civil War II one-shots, Civil War II: The Fallen #1 and Civil War II: The Accused #1, both with classified creative teams and covers.

Editor Tom Brevoort offered some vague hints about the upcoming issues on Marvel.com.

“Like the other tie-ins that we’re doing, you can just read the core series and be fine,” he said. “But for greater insight and greater nuance, these one-shots will help flesh out some of the most important parts of the story.”

As for the secret creative teams, Brevoort had some cryptic remarks for those as well.

“In one instance, [a creator has] a close familiarity with a key character in question,” he said. “In the other, a specialty related to the story in that one-shot.”

There is little doubt that the term fallen in the title for one of the one-shots will mean someone is dying, as Marvel made it clear in the run up to the event that someone would be dying and during the original Civil War event fallen was used in the title of the mini-series that dealt with Captain America’s death at that time.

That would mean that the second one-shot will deal potentially with someone accused of either leading to the death of the first character or of killing that character themselves.

What do you think these teasers could mean?
